Saint

So, I'm currently reading Saint by Ted Dekker. I've been reading this series backwards and didn't really realize it. :) This is book 2 of the Paradise Series. You may want to read them in order so it doesn't ruin anything for you.

You can totally read each book separately and not be left hanging but if you are planning on reading all of them, I recommend you start with the first. :)

Heaven is for Real

Probably the most incredible book I've read to date. It's such a small book and a fast read (I read it in a few days). But soooo good!!!

Heaven is for Real is about a little boy who claims he went to heaven when he was 4. His information he gives makes it hard to believe it didn't happen.

As Ron Hall, coauthor of Same Kind of Different As Me says, "A beautifully written glimpse into heaven that will encourage those who doubt and thrill those who believe."

The Road

I read this book about a month ago. It's....good but a little hard to get used to his writing in the beginning. There's dialogue but no quotations. And it's a bit choppy.

However, it's a really great book. A bit dark and disturbing on some parts. The ending.....well, lest I ruin it for you, it just seems like it could have gone a bit longer. Maybe a chapter more. But it's not one of those books you want to throw across the room or feel like you wasted hours of your life away.

So take a chance like I did and give it a try. You might really enjoy it. I'm usually more of a romantic/1800s/thriller/Christian book kinda gal. But this will be one of the more memorable books I've read. I also saw that it became a movie so I ordered it on netflix. Don't cheat and watch the movie first, though. Books are always way better.

Wild At Heart

This is the man version of "Captivating". Written by the same authors. Although it's not specifically written for women, it's still something great to read because it has some interesting and good to know information. And the authors recommend wives to read it and for husbands to read "Captivating".

It's also good to read if you have sons (whether you're a father or mother). A lot of what goes on in a man's life starts from childhood so there's a lot of useful information in here that's not cheesy or anything. Perfect for summer!!!

Currently Reading...

"Lucifer's Flood" is such a great book!! It's actually book one of a 3 part series "Reluctant Demon Diaries". It sounds weird but it's not. It looks at the New Testament through the eyes of a demon who regrets his choice to follow Satan instead of God.

There's some humor in it and doesn't have an ounce of scariness in it for those of you who were wondering. It's a novel and the author makes it clear that it's just a story from her ideas and not meant to be taken as factual. Yet it does still give you a feeling of "huh. I've never thought of it from that view before."

Very, very, very good. I definitely recommend it. Especially for the summertime beach days.

Captivating

"God has set within you a femininity that is powerful and tender, fierce and alluring. No doubt it has been misunderstood. Surely it has been assaulted. But it is there, your true heart, and it is worth recovering. You are captivating."

This book is amazing and so wonderful and my favorite "self help" book of all times. Although, it doesn't seem like a self help book. It's more of a book that I bet nearly every woman can relate to on one point or another. So if you're looking for something encouraging and involving scripture and what God has to say about you, read this book. It may not change your life (although it definitely could), but there's a pretty good chance that something about your life is going to change once you read it. If only it be a better understanding of who God made you to be.

Books!!!

If you're looking for a fictional book to read, go for anything written by TED DEKKER. My favorite of his is House (co-written with FRANK PERETTI- another excellent writter). Ted Dekker's books are Christian thrillers with amazing stories that get you thinking about your own faith. Some are modern day stuff, some are stories placed in made up worlds but either way, they are extremely fast reads and keep you interested. Don't be too worried about the covers. They look really creepy but as long as you can handle a little suspense, you should be fine. And since they're not the mushy and cheesy books that some fictions can be like, guys would really enjoy them, too.

You really can't go wrong with any of these. Perfect for when you're taking a trip or if you just want to sit down with a REALLY good book. He has some series out, too, but in case you're like me and have ADD when it comes to reading 3 books of the same story in a row, I figured listing the single novels would be best. But by all means, if you are a series kinda trooper, go for it!! They're just as good as the others. Enjoy!!!
